The Renton (Wash.) Liberty two-way threat Chandler Jenkins talks about which side he's being…
Jenkins Looking to Prove Patriots Belong
Renton (Wash.) Liberty playmaker Chandler Jenkins had a usual performance last Friday night. But what is usual for Jenkins, is a stellar night for anyone else. Jenkins caught the ball and ran it out of the backfield for Liberty. In the process, he racked up 138 rushing yards, 54 receiving yards and 2 touchdowns. However, his most valuable contribution to the team may have been on defense. Where he was given the task of covering Skyline's 5-star wide receiver Kasen Williams. Jenkins did a great job limiting Kasen's big plays and never really allowed him to work his way into open space. "Corner grows on me every year," said Jenkins. "The only thing really going through my head today… This is my job, Kasen Williams; I am going to lock him down all day." Most schools are recruiting Jenkins for offense, but his ceiling may be higher at corner. Jenkins is physical at the line of scrimmage and isn't afraid to hit. Once the receiver gets into his route Jenkins has the speed to run with wide outs and the athleticism to make plays on the ball. On the recruiting front, Jenkins has an offer from Air Force, but is still waiting to hear from other schools that are still evaluating him. "Some schools are talking to me… some are saying, "if this happens…" then you'll get an offer." Jenkins really just wants to focus on his senior season. One that should be exciting and could end up back at the Tacoma Dome. "I feel like it is our new line, we have something to prove. You look at forums and they talk about how the lines aren't going to be good, then we come out and do this," said Jenkins. "So we definitely have something to prove."
