Davis Is Glenville's Playmaker
Nick Davis appears to be in the process of establishing himself as Cleveland Glenville's go-to wide receiver in 2010, after coming up big in both Tarblooder victories this season. Davis, a 5-foot-10, 170-pound, speedster on the outside, has been instrumental in helping lead Glenville to two early season wins. He has made big plays in both the Indianapolis Warren Central and Palm Beach Dwyer victories. "I'm definitely a better player than I was last year, and I think it shows," he said. "I'm a better route-runner and I'm much faster. Against Warren Central I had seven catches for over 100 yards, and against Dwyer I didn't put up as good of numbers, but I made a few big plays to keep us in the game." Although he currently holds no offers at this time, Davis is hopeful a strong senior showing could impress college recruiters. "I'm hearing from Cincinnati, West Virginia, North Carolina, Cal, UCLA, Ball State and Toledo," Davis stated. "A lot of schools are interested, it's just nobody has made that first offer yet. I'm pretty sure the colleges can see I can play at a Division-I level. I'm hoping to schedule a visit to Cincinnati in the next few weeks." It isn't always about the high profile Division-I schools though, and Davis is also very interested in an Ivy League school. "I'm also still in contact with Yale, and I'm still interested in them," he added. "I know how great of a school Yale is, and if the money is right, I would go there. They want me to raise my core GPA a little higher before they can offer me a full scholarship, and I'm in the process of doing that."
