The Hilltoppers have won three games and not lost any, but this is the team's motto this year, and the team leaders reinforce that, including junior defensive tackle Tommy Schutt.
"Our philosophy every week is that we want to be 1-0 at the end of every week," the 6'3, 300-lb Schutt said, "not worry about down the road, just beat whoever is in front of us."
"It makes the game a lot more fun. It's real intense and it's always a good battle playing good competition."
People watching the game may have noticed a 301-lb #10 standing up and rushing and blitzing from a two-point stance. An unusual sight, but one West opponents will have to get used to.
"Those are some new plays we put in this season, some running around like the Steelers do. We all are assigned blitz gaps and my job is to open lanes for the linebackers to make plays."
With that kind of athleticism, it is no surprise that Schutt has picked up quite a few verbal offers.
Soon, he will begin taking unofficial visits to several schools he is hoping to get a closer look.
"I'm going out to the Iowa-Penn State in a couple weeks. I'm also going to the Iowa-Ohio State game and I'm also going to try to make it to Alabama for a game."
The two Big Ten teams he mentioned are the two Schutt says he has towards the top of his list right now.
"I really want to get to Iowa and Penn State, those are two of my definite favorites right now."
