Williamson Commits Green!
Dayton Dunbar cornerback Roger Williamson committed to Michigan State just moments ago at a press conference according to SpartanDigest's Dave Berk, who is on hand for the announcement. The 6'0, 185-lb Williamson is a high school wide receiver and safety, but may project best to cornerback in college, a position he played well at the Spartans' summer camp. He chose the Spartans over offers from West Virginia, Wisconsin, Indiana, Maryland, Northwestern and many others. Scout.com and Spartan Digest will have more on this breaking commitment shortly. Scout's Quick Take: When I saw Williamson at MSU's camp, I saw a tough, physical defensive back who made it tough for every receiver he faced to get off the line. He is physically ready to play, and although he has not played much cornerback, showed the mentality and athleticism for it. Does he have the top end speed and hips for corner? I believe that while he is not blazing fast, he can play the position and will make up for it with size, strength and aggressiveness. I also believe he will be an asset in run support. Is offense a possibility? Yes, but at this point, I'd say cornerback is most likely, followed closely by safety, then receiver. His versatility certainly adds to his attractiveness as a prospect though. Good pick up for the Spartans. Williamson is a high 3-star.
