New Programs In the Fold For Johnson
No offers have come his way, but League City (TX) Clear Springs junior wide receiver Marcus Johnson is quickly making a name for himself amongst Division I recruiters. Recently, Johnson witnessed TCU handle Baylor in Fort Worth, now even more action is going on for him. New programs have surfaced for the 6-foot, 175-pound Johnson. "Oklahoma, Arkansas and Arizona have started recruiting him hard. He is also hearing from Texas A&M some too," Marlon Johnson, Marcus' father said. Though he has not made it out to any other games up to the point, Marlon said that the SMU coaches have said that Marcus can come up ay any time and Arkansas and Duke have invited him to all the home games for this season. With the Aggies, Marlon said that the coaches have asked the family to come by for an unofficial visit. According to Marlon, a lot of the contact has been through coach Clint Hartman at Clear Springs. Judging by the production that Marcus has contributed to the Clear Springs team, there may be a good number of other programs in the mix as well. To date, Marcus has 15 catches for 359 yards and two touchdowns as the team's No. 2 receiver. Programs like LSU, Kansas State and Nebraska have also been showing interest as well.
