New Interest from the SEC

Jorge Sanz of Gulliver Prep is banking on a strong senior year to help him extend his playing days to the college level and possibly beyond. The hard hitting linebacker is part of a fine defensive unit that has lead Gulliver Prep to a 4-1 record headed into their bye week. Chaminade Prep is up next on the schedule and Jorge knows that every time out he has the chance to earn a college scholarship.

"Right now my top schools are Western Michigan, Mississippi State, Rice, Colorado State and Memphis," said Sanz.

"Coach Campbell at Western Michigan and I talk all the time. I think they are probably the closest to offering me. He told me they are waiting to see some senior highlights.

"Mississippi State said they were very interested. The called me on Friday for the first time to tell me they were recruiting me. Coach Mirando said they wanted to see my highlight tape from my first couple of games. He said we would take it from there.

"I have gotten a lot of interest from Rice. Coach Slater stays in touch with me a good bit.

"Coach Stroud from Colorado State and I talk every week and I know they are really interested in me.

"Memphis has been showing me a lot of interest and they want to see some senior tape of me."

Jorge is waiting on offer number one, but he believes the ice breaker is just around the corner.

When signing day comes, Sanz plans to ink with a program that can meet both his athletic and educational goals.

"I want to go to place where the coaches feel comfortable with me playing," said Jorge. "I will play wherever they want me to play, but I want to play.

"Football and academics are both big for me, but academics are first on my list.

"I want to play for a team that wants to want to win and they are committed to winning. I want to play for coaches who know how to win."
