Mattison Offer Reports Were Premature
We had previously reported that Victor Mattison had been offered by Purdue, but contrary to that report, he says that has not happened yet, but the Boilermakers are interested. "Nothing was committed either way," the 6'1, 175-lb receiver said. "I met with a recruiting coordinator and gave them my film." Then he got to see the campus. "It is a nice school with a nice environment. I saw the game and I liked it. It was a nice visit." After Mattison visited West Lafayette, the Boilermakers returned the favor and stopped by to see him in action. "Purdue was at my last game," he said. "They said they would start the recruiting process with me. I did well. I didn't catch any touchdowns, but I had four catches for 105 yards." As for other schools who are uncovering this hidden gem, Mattison says, "West Virginia has been sending a lot of stuff." Then there is Ohio State, who has former GP South product Reid Fragel on their roster and has been looking to find out more about Mattison. "Apparently the coaches had asked Reid about me. What kind of kid I was and if I would come to their school." Mattison says he has not yet talked to the Buckeyes, but he does hope to head down to Columbus along with Morgantown soon. "West Virginia told me they want me to come down either this week or next week. I'm going to try to visit Ohio State too."
