Coveted linebacker shines - ScoutTV

Pittsburgh, Pa. - Gateway's Armstead Williams is one of the more highly regarded uncommitted linebackers left on the board. He showed why in two-way effort against Central Catholic last week.

Listed at 6-2/205, Armstead Williams of Gateway plays linebacker and wide receiver for his Gator team. Gateway fell short against Central Catholic on Fox Sports last week, but Williams got to show why he is being recruited by teams from all over the north and beyond.

Williams has very good closing speed from his outside linebacker position, and he gets a good read on the play as its developing. He is rarely out of position, and he has the toughness and willingness to take on blocks of a middle linebacker. He's a good enough athlete that he also sees time at receiver and made some nice catches against Central Catholic last week.

Williams claims Iowa, Maryland, and Purdue among his favorite schools.
