Chesapeake Bowl Selection: Ronny Vandyke
Four-star DB Ronny Vandyke (6-3/190, Lorton, VA, South County) is looking forward to joining the defensive secondary of the South Team for the inaugural Chesapeake Bowl All-Star Game to be played on December 30th. The Virginia Tech commit is ready for the challenge. "It feels good to be selected," said Vandyke. "I am able to represent northern Virginia. It will be a great challenge. It will be fun to team up with the best players from the south area and go up against the best from up north. It will be fun to meet players that I will play with and against in college." Vandyke gave his verbal commitment to Virginia Tech last year. He was the first member of the 2011 recruiting class. Vandyke chose the Hokies over offers from Virginia, West Virginia, Rutgers, Vanderbilt, Pittsburgh, Boston College, Syracuse and Maryland. The Chesapeake Bowl will pit the North Team vs. the South Team. The North Team is represented by players selected from Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Delaware and the South Team is comprised of players from Maryland, Virginia, Washington, D.C. and West Virginia. The site of the game will be announced shortly. Each player will receive their own personalized game jersey and a custom bowl ring. The game will be open to the public.
