"A lot of other schools are recruiting me," said Cody McCarthy, who claims offers from Idaho State and Army. "But I don't know what's gonna happen. I'm just trying to finish out my season and see what happens then. Hopefully, some other schools come through. I've talked with Air Force, Army, Arkansas, Oregon State and Washington about visiting them. I'm close to setting up a couple..."

Cody McCarthy, the 6-foot-0.5, 230-pound three-star linebacker from Bishop Kelly High School in Boise, Idaho, still only has offers from Idaho State and Army and is hoping for more.

"A lot of other schools are recruiting me," McCarthy said. "But I don't know what's gonna happen. I'm just trying to finish out my season and see what happens then. Hopefully, some other schools come through."

McCarthy says he's also being recruited by Arkansas, Oregon State, Boise State, Washington, Washington State, Stanford, North Carolina, Army and Air Force.

"I've talked with a few of them about taking a trip too," he said. "I'm close to setting up a couple official visits, but it won't be until after the season."

So which schools have talked to McCarthy about tripping? "I've talked with Air Force, Army, Arkansas, Oregon State and Washington about visiting them," he said.

McCarthy has already visited several schools unofficially though. He's been to Oregon State, Boise State, Washington and Washington already.

"Boise State is doing really well," he said about the Broncos. "They're always a great team.

"But a lot of these schools are doing well this year," he said. "Washington had a couple surprise wins and are getting better.

"Oregon State is always good," he said. "And Arkansas has a good thing going too. Coach Bobby Petrino is doing a great job. They started recruiting me during the summer and I really like them a lot. I'd like to visit them and see what they're like."

McCarthy says that distance will not be a factor.

Ranked as the No. 52 middle linebacker in the country by Scout.com, McCarthy has helped lead his team to an 8-0 start. He says he averages about 15 tackles per game and has eight fumbles caused, four sacks, three fumbles recovered and one interception. He also has one punt returned for a score and six rushing touchdowns.

McCarthy plans to major in physical therapy and reports a 3.3 GPA and a 19 ACT (Dec. 11 retake).
