Clairton Junior Holds Offer
Clairton (Pa.) junior wide receiver/cornerback Trenton Coles recently received word that he had garnered his first scholarship offer from Pittsburgh. "I got offered by Pitt a few days ago," Coles said. "Coach (Tom) Nola told me that Coach (Dave) Wannstedt wanted me to call him, so I did and he offered. I was very excited to get the offer. I really wasn't expecting it this early. Coach (Matt) Dudek and Coach (Greg) Gattuso said Coach Wannstedt really liked me, so I figured it may happen. Getting that first offer really means a lot and it shows me how serious they are about me." Michigan State, Illinois, Purdue, Notre Dame and Wisconsin are all showing interest. Coles is trying to make plans to see Notre Dame in action. "I'm going to try and go to New York and see Notre Dame play Army," explained Coles. "They play at the new Yankee Stadium. I am being recruited by Charley Molnar." Coles has been to a few Pitt games this year. "I saw the Miami and Florida International games," he said. "I liked it at Pitt. I had a chance to hang out of the sidelines and locker room. I really enjoy talking to the coaching staff." Pittsburgh has two Clarion alums Kevin Weatherspoon and Manny Williams on its roster. The Panthers also have a commitment from 2010 defensive end Desimon Green. "I might end choosing Pitt, but I have to see what else is out there," Coles stated. "It is nice having guys from Clairton there. It really helps knowing that can teach you what to expect." The 6-foot-3, 175-pound, wide receiver is in no hurry to make a decision any time soon. "I want to let it play out a bit and see what all is out there," Coles said. "I want to take some visits to see other schools. I do like Pitt a lot, but I need to compare them to other schools."
