Rubio Long Snapping and Chris Sailer Kicking traveled to Charlotte, North Carolina and were greeted with terrific weather and a solid group of long snappers. Long snapping instructor Chris Rubio of Rubio Long Snapping and Chris Sailer Kicking was on hand guiding the long snappers through the several sections of the camp. The camp focused on on-field instruction and also incorporated film/classroom review, recruiting seminar led by the NCSA along with Rubio and Chris Sailer, and wrapped up with a competition. The winner of the competition earned a FREE admission to the 9th Annual Snapping Event sponsored by Nike in Las Vegas on January 15-16, 2011.
The long snappers of states such as North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia, New Jersey, Tennessee, Florida and Georgia came out and did a terrific job. The overall winner of the Nike Fall Camp in NC for long snappers was Cory Cheadle (2012, SC). Cory is one of the finest long snappers in his class and looks to be moving towards playing at the next level very nicely. He has a great frame, snaps the ball extremely well and is on lock down with his form. The sky is the limit for this very flexible long snapper from Hilton Head Christian Academy.
Cheadle obviously did well, but he was not alone. Other long snappers to show some great talent were:
2011: Rick Lovato (NJ), Lovato came down from NJ and correlated the camp with a recruiting trip to a very lucky school. This kid is terrific and has a very impressive frame for a long snapper. Long and smooth. Will be a solid college long snapper.
Brett Heinrich (NC), Brett is a good sized lefty that has solid form and very good speed. He was very impressive and will make a name for himself in the long snapping world for at least the next couple of years.
Michael Dunphy (TN), Keep an eye on this long snapper. He is looking to transfer and, when he does, he will make some college very happy. Hard worker that listens well and doesn’t shy away from competition and pressure. Good overall long snapper.
Jake Banta (GA), Jake is a very strong long snapper with solid form. Right on the cusp of being one of the top snappers in the country. Hard worker that is really excelling with his long snapping.
Michael Quick (SC) is a solid long snapper with solid form, great flexibility and a nice frame.
2012: Cory Cheadle (SC). Hands down the best 2012 long snapper in attendance. He was the winner of the camp and wasn’t even slowed up during the competition. Tremendous flexibility and great size. When he snaps the ball hard, there is no one better. Very close to a five star snapper.
Patrick Gerrits (FL). Patrick is one of the smoothest and most consistent long snappers in the country. Good size and form. Solid long snapper.
Matt Cincotta (NC). Very, very quick hands on this long snapper that really gets the ball moving. Very close to being a top dog within his class.
Rubio Long Snapping and Chris Sailer Kicking will be touring the country this fall with their next stop being Texas (Nov 21), followed by GA (Dec 12) and CA (Jan 9). All Nike Fall Camps lead right into the biggest camp of the year for long snappers, the 9th Annual National Snapping Event sponsored by Nike in Las Vegas on January 15-16, 2010.
