East Kentwood shocked Inkster 52-33 last night, despite a great performance from 5-star quarterback…
Wallace Takes First Unofficial
A starter at right tackle since his sophomore season, Inkster's Marquise Wallace is poised to be one of the top guard prospects in the Midwest next year. At 6'3, 320-lbs, he has the size and has plenty of game experience for a school that has been to two state title games in three years. This weekend, he took his first unofficial visit, to Michigan, where he got to see former teammates Cameron Gordon and Devin Gardner as well as the Wolverine coaches. "They didn't say anything much," Wallace explained, "but I did talk to the wide receivers coach (Tony Dews). I've been knowing him. I didn't talk to Devin or Cam at the game, but I talked to Cam the day before the game." The Wolverines are not the only school recruiting Wallace. While this weekend's trip to Ann Arbor was his first visit, he says he has been getting invited to games and has been receiving a lot of mail. "I've been hearing from Wisconsin, Northwestern, Nebraska, Toledo and Florida State." Wallace also has shown flashes of ability in spot time as a defensive tackle, but says he prefers to stick to what he knows best. "It's more offense," he admitted. "I really don't like defense, but I will play it." No schools have talked about offers just yet, but Wallace still has to get his junior tape out. If he were to have his pick of the litter though, the Wolverines, and the opportunity to play with Gardner and Gordon again would be high on the list. "I like Michigan a lot. I'm thinking about going there."
