Peach State quarterback switches commitment
"I decomitted from Elon yesterday," Carson Barnett stated. "I have decided to commit to Samford. It wasn't anything that went wrong with Elon. I still have a lot of respect for their entire coaching staff. Elon's a great school. "Coach (Pat) Sullivan (Samford head coach) is getting more involved with the quarterbacks. That is a big deal to me. That was an eye opener knowing Coach Sullivan is gonna be more involved with the quarterbacks. That was a big part of my decision. "This decision is something that I've prayed about for the last month. I feel like God is leading me to go to school there. This commitment is 100-percent. I feel like it's the school for me. I am satisfied where I'm going. I like what they have in store for my future. Barnett had a great year and was one of the most productive quarterbacks in the state of Georgia. He reports his stats in 10 regular season games. "I threw for around 2,300 yards and 22 touchdowns," he said. "I think I only threw five or six picks (interceptions). My completion percentage was 64-percent. I'm not sure about my rushing yards, but I know I rushed for two touchdowns." Carson Barnett still has several schools showing interest, including a handful of BCS conference programs. He plans to graduate on time with his senior class at Landmark Christian.
