Badger Commit leads team to Title

Madison, Wis. - The High School State Football Championships for the State of Wisconsin were played at the home of the Badgers in Camp Randall Stadium. A future Badger made himself right at home as he led his team to its second straight Championship.

Austin Maly (6-5/215) of Waunakee High School is a Wisconsin commitment, and last week he looked right at home as he hauled in five passes for 127 yards and a touchdown as he led his team to its second straight State Championship.

Maly is a huge weapon in the passing game for Waunakee. He is a big target with soft hands, and he adjusts well in the air to meet a ball at his highest point. He does a good job of getting off of the line of scrimmage and avoid being jammed, making him a good downfield threat and not just an underneath target from his tight end position.

He shows good effort in the ground game, but he'll need to get significantly bigger and stronger before his blocking catches up with his receiving skills for the next level.

Maly got Waunakee off to a fast start with two big catches on the first drive of the game. Waunakee broke the game open in the second half, and Cedarburg never had an answer for Waunakee's big tight end.
