Signal caller Tony Smith is still looking for a school and he found out last week that the Rutgers Scarlet Knights will be offering him a scholarship if they can’t grab two other quarterbacks they’re courting.

Tony Smith, a 6-foot-5, 220-pound quarterback from George Washington High School in Philadelphia, Pa., just finished up his senior year for the Eagles and Scout.com has his senior highlights, but we also have some news that he could be getting an offer from Rutgers soon.

“A coach from Rutgers came to school who said he assisted Coach Kirk Ciarrocca last Tuesday or Wednesday and told me that they’re looking at Gary Nova as he might be back in the mix (this obviously was at the time of Dave Wannstedt’s departure) and that their other option was a kid from Florida that just committed (Teddy Bridgewater),” Smith said. “He told me that if they can’t get a commitment from those two that I’m their third option and that Coach Ciarrocca would be keeping in touch with me.”

“I’ve been up there a couple of times and love the field and facilities and it would be great to go there, so that was great news,” Smith added. “I’m just waiting to see what happens with those other two kids.”
