The weather did not cooperate for the long snappers as the cold and snow crept in by the early morning, but that didn't matter as there was a perfect gym just awaiting their presence. Within minutes of the camps beginning, there was no doubt this camp would easily be one of the top with all the talent in attendance. 7 of the TOP 12 were there as was the #1 Long Snapper in the country, Bryce Haynes.
All of the instructors were very attentive and the parents were extremely involved. It was a tremendous camp. The overall winner of the Nike Fall Camp in GA was Reid Ferguson (2012, GA). He is currently the top Long Snapper for the class of 2012 and well on his way to greatness. He is flat out exceptional all day long.
Of course, a couple long snappers stood out throughout the day and here they are:
Bryce Haynes (GA) – By far the best Long Snapper in the country. He is long , he is lean, he is fast (low .6s), he can block, he can run and he is holding a 2000 SAT. He currently has full ride offers from Notre Dame, Ohio St, North Carolina, Arkansas, Utah St and Michigan St.
Daniel Carlson (NC) – not the biggest or quickest but is extremely smooth and accurate. Daniel is like a pitching machine with his snapping. Kid never misses.
Harrison Elliott (GA) – So long and smooth. A great overall long snapper that is already committed to Air Force. Tremendous frame and really is letting the ball fly. Very competitive. Great long snapper and person.
Matt Giampapa (TN) – Very impressive as he traveled from TN for this camp. Form is darn near perfect and he snaps the ball very hard. Nice and smooth long snapper that gets better each and every single day.
CT Moorman (NC) – Form is excellent and he is as accurate as you can hope for. Speed is solid and he is consistent. Really has improved over the past couple years and will be a solid college long snapper.
David Murphy (NY) – Came down the East Coast and looked strong. Massive frame and good flexibility for such a big man. Murphy is very, very close to becoming tremendous and making some college out there happy as can be.
Derek O'Dell (CA) – The winner of the 8th Annual National Snapping Event rolled over from CA and really exploded, in a good way, in the afternoon. When he follows all the way through he is simply unstoppable.
Jake Banta (GA) – One of the strongest long snappers in attendance. Improves every time I see him. Now that he can focus on just long snapping, watch out.
Brandon Taylor (LA) – One of the hardest working Long Snappers in the business. Improved a great deal in the past couple of years. Built like a rock and listens very well.
Reid Ferguson (GA) – The winner of the Nike Fall Camp and was amazing all day long. Body is strong and he is athletic. Basically ready for college now. If he keeps progressing there would be no reason he is not snapping at a major college in 2013.
Cory Cheadle (SC) – Work horse is one way to describe Cheadle. Finding his strength and it is paying off with his speed. Really starting to snap the ball hard and he is starting to separate himself from others. He is easily one of the top long snappers in the country for his class. Vegas could be huge for him.
Jackson Britton (AL) – Love his smoothness and accuracy. More size and strength will help his speed. Fantastic form!
Jake Abraham (GA) – showed tremendous form and explosion. Listens well. Potential.
JC Barefiled (GA) – Extremely strong Long Snapper that did excellent for his first Rubio Long Snapping camp. Showed great poise under pressure and has a bright future with his snapping.
Jacob Carr (GA) – Huge progress in the past couple of months. Really making a name for himself in the snapping world.
Ryan Eustace (GA) – Excellent form and a long frame. More weight and strength and he turns into a terror.
Stephen Morella (LA) – Handled pressure very well and made it into the semi finals.
Tucker Etheridge (GA) – Strong body, quick hands, solid form are all benefits of this terrific Long Snapper. Keep a very close eye on him. Expect him in the top 5 sooner than later.
2013: Scott Sypniewski showed why he is one of the top long snappers in his class as he is very smooth and oozing with potential.
Rubio Long Snapping and Chris Sailer Kicking will be touring the country this fall with their next stop being in California for the Prep Camp on January 9th.
