Simmons Has Busy Month Ahead
"Crying, happiness and tears of joy." Those were the first words to come out of the mouth of Cibolo (TX) Steele linebacker Ryan Simmons after a 24-21 win over Denton Guyer in the Class 5A Division II State Finals at Cowboys Stadium last Saturday. "I honestly don't know what to say. Our dream became a reality and this is exactly what we wanted," Simmons said. "Moving from 4A to 5A, it's no different. Everybody puts on pads the same way. We just had to keep our class and composure. That's it." On top of the win for the fairly new Steele program, the 6-foot-1, 220-pound Simmons was named the Defensive MVP for the game after eight tackles, one for loss.
