Here is a look at a few available offensive senior athletes in the Greater Houston area. We have compiled this list just in time for Christmas.
QB (6)
Joseph Schneider, The Woodlands
Trey Anderson, Pearland
Zach Lathrop, Sugar Land Dulles
Kyle Washington, Humble
Bruce Reyes, Beaumont Westbrook
Travaughn Colwell, Manvel
It has always been known that the quarterback is the leader on the field and in many cases the smartest. And judging from this list, that trend rings true with players like Lathrop (scholar athlete, top of class) and Are (spoke of Harvard on may occasions) who are both likely to choose a program based more academics rather than football. Schneider is a latecomer and is starting to get some love from FCS programs.
RB (4)
Donovonn Young, Katy
Tim Gay, Houston Chavez
Leroy Dobbins, Montgomery
Dustin Garrison, Pearland
After talking with all of the players (or coaches or someone close to the recruitment) on the list, each brings a different set of skills to the table. Then too, each has heard of some reason as to why there is not more activity (offers) going on in their recruiting. For Young, his speed and for Garrison and Dobbins, it’s size. One thing is for sure, all have produced results and was their team’s workhorse.
WR (6)
Marcus Vaughn, Pearland Dawson
Devante Davis, North Shore
Dimitri Donald, Clear Springs
Jordan Moore, Aldine
Masakela Malone, Nimitz
Ed'Marques Batties, Hightower
Vaughn is the highest ranked player left in the state at the receiver position. He is set for some visits and will likely land at a BCS level program. Davis too has a variety of offers, while Malone holds Tulsa.
TE (2)
Imhotep Coleman, Lamar
Everett Pleasant, Atascocita
Each of these players has a single offer (Coleman-Utah, Pleasant-Iowa State), but we’ll have to see if more transpires during the January rush, one of the busiest months in recruiting.
OL (7)
Scott Whitmore, Klein Collins
Kendrick Williams, Klein Forest
Tyler Knowles, Cinco Ranch
Stephen Jacobs, Nimitz
Caleb Ealy, Westfield
Troy Duncan, Yates
Max Brown, Pearland Dawson
There are some solid players on this list. We went ahead and added Brown (Navy offer) even though he has been recruited to play a number of positions, even on the defensive side of the ball. Look for Williams and Whitmore to land at a Division I program as each has a couple offers.
