Posted Dec 24, 2010

Every year around this time Prep Insider checks the commitment list to see who is left on the board. And like most years, the talent is still abundant and available. So we have complied a listing of players who have not given a verbal commitment from the Greater Houston area. This list contains only defensive players.

Here is a look at a few available defensive senior athletes in the Greater Houston area. We have compiled this list just in time for Christmas.

DL (4)
Christopher Cormier, Alief Hastings
Antonio Wright, La Marque
Tyler Marvel, Angleton
Elijah Pleasant, La Marque
From neighboring Louisiana, Cormier showed he has the good for the Division I level and has a couple offers in hand. Marvel getting looks at the FCS and D2 level and big men from La Marque are bound to land somewhere and make a difference.

DE (5)
Tylond Robertson, Hempstead
Brandon Alexander, Brenham
Keenan Brown, Lamar Consoilidated
Jaylen Jordan, Elkins
James Rushing, Houston Memorial
Of this group, clearly Alexander is the one who is, and will continue to blow up. After coach Will Muschamp took the job at Florida, word is that contact was made to Alexander. Rushing also holds some offers and will find himself on a Division roster.

LB (4)
Rodney Young, DeKaney
Ragan Robichaux, Kingwood Park
Steve Orisakwe, Pearland Dawson
Charles Woods, Humble
Recently Katy’s Grant Clifton made his commitment to Navy, which takes him off this list, and that is a good thing. But once again, there is more talent that needs to be picked up with Young leading the way. Boise State, Missouri and Northwestern are in the mix for Young. There could be more activity in the coming weeks.

DB (5)
Evan Fichter, Strake Jesuit
Michael Mudoh, Richomnd Bush
Matt Sherrard, Stratford
Darrus Harper, Cy Creek
Nick Brooks, Atascocita
Mudoh is the highest rated defensive back in the city with close to 10 offers in the table. Sherrard is another talented one with a few in hand and some interest. Brooks will also make a good addition to college program as well.
