Don’t blink because you just may miss Oklahoma commitment Brandon Williams. He’s fast, elusive, and one heck of a high school football player that is participating in the 2011 Under Armour All-American Game. Williams is in the game with four of his future college teammates and is enjoying the new bond he is making with group.
On day one, Brandon Williams was probably one of the top five performers on the day. He showed vision inside running with the ball and amazing speed and quickness outside. There were times when Nathan Hughes and Jordan Phillips would have none of it, but he two are going to be teammates in college, so getting tackled by them isn’t so bad. He is enjoying his time in Orlando this week and especially getting to know his fellow Sooners.
“It’s going real well and is a good experience for me,” Williams said. “We have a good connection out here and are creating a real bond. When we are all together they all act just like me. Yesterday we went to a sports bar and watched OU play so I think we are creating a bond.”
Williams could stand for his cohorts to loosen up a bit and admits he might be the wildest of the bunch.
“I think I am the craziest,” he said while laughing. “I just like to say whatever comes to my mind.”
As for the competition on the field here at the Disney World facilities, Williams thinks he is pulling his own, but wants to improve.
“I feel like I can do better, but I think I did alright,” he said modestly before telling us what he thinks sets him apart from other high school players. “I think I can read defenses and have some toughness.”
His chance in college will come soon and all he wants is a chance to show what he can do when he arrives in Norman.
“I am just looking forward to a chance to play and showing the coaches that I can help the team,” he said.
