Another Hayti Prospect Emerges
Another Hayti prospect to keep an eye on is three-year varsity letter winner Jason Covington. The 5-foot-10, 213-pound running back, linebacker was named all-state in 2002.
"J-Folk (Covington) is a player," said Hayti head coach Shawn Jackson. "Jason is a player and a hard worker. He's a yes sir, no sir kid that hasn't missed a practice in three years.
"I feel that Jason could play running back or safety at the next level. He averaged 11 yards per carry and scored 14 touchdowns on offense. On defense he led our team in tackles and had 10 tackles for loss."
Does Covington have any scholarship offers?
"Not yet," Covington said. "Missouri and Illinois are recruiting me the hardest. My favorites are Missouri, Illinois, Purdue, Arkansas State and Southeast Missouri State."
