New Orleans corner will visit Pitt
New Orleans (La.) O.Perry Walker cornerback Cortez Johnson has been committed to Southern Miss since late summer, but it is looking like he may head elsewhere. Tulsa was one school who was in on him and now that Todd Graham and his staff have moved on and taken Mike Norvell with him, Johnson has risen to the top of Pittsburgh's wish list. "I spoke with Coach Mike Norvell last night and he offered me a scholarship," Johnson said. "He was recruiting me at Tulsa. He told me I could come in and make an impact right away. They wasnt me to come take an official visit on January 28th, so I am. "I don't know much about Pittsburgh," Johnson continued. "I do know Mike Norvell and I like him a lot. I know they got some real good running backs up there. I just want to take the visit and see how the program works and check out the school and facilities." The 6-foot-2, 190-pound, cornerback also has official visits scheduled at Arizona (1/14) and Minnesota (1/21). Wherever Johnson lands he says distance will not be a factor. "It doesn't matter to me, most of the schools that are on me are all far away," Johnson explained. "I think if I work hard, I can make an impact anywhere I go." Kansas State offered Johnson today and the Wildcats and Utah are coming in for in-home visits next week. Johnson recorded 85 tackles and 11 interceptions as a senior. He was named 1st Team All-State, 1st team All-Metro and was the All-District MVP.
