Mike Davis has made up his mind and he has decided on the Memphis Tigers.

"I have committed to Memphis," Mike Davis told Scout shortly after meeting with Coach [Jay] Hopson at Carver High School on Wednesday afternoon.

"They have a new head coach in Terry Porter and he is ready to build the program up and I want to be a part of that. I like the coaches and I just want to help turn things around. That is really why I chose them."

He has yet to visit Memphis, but he will take his official visit there this weekend.

Davis is a 6-foot-1, 235 pound inside linebacker that also had offers from schools like Georgia Southern and Southern Miss among others.

Simmons' Take: Davis is a downhill linebacker that plays fast on the field. He is not a guy that excels in coverage, but he knows how to find the football and go get it. He tackles well behind his pads sticking his shoulder in there to add some pop. I really like his attitude, his aggressiveness, and how he plays the game.

Chad Simmons started out with Scout in 2003 covering top talent in Georgia and other areas in the South. He then moved on to another Recruiting Service from 2004-2008 before returning to Scout the first of 2009 to become Southeast Recruiting Manager.
