"I was invited to visit Mississippi State, but my soccer team won in the playoffs on Tuesday," said Gibbs who plays goal keeper. "We're in the second round now and we play Tupelo this Saturday at home.
"We lost in the state championship last year, so we're hoping to get back there."
While some time on the soccer pitch has been a lot of fun for Michael, he knows his college future lies on the football field.
"The first time I really talked to Mississippi State was in the spring," said Gibbs. "I went to the camp this summer and had a good time. I was invited back to the Big Dawg camp, but I couldn't make it.
"I have been in touch with Coach Knox since then. They are talking about playing center or offensive guard."
The Bulldogs have not extended an offer, but they have expressed interest in Michael joining their program.
"I am either going to go to Mississippi State or Hinds for two years," said Gibbs. "They are talking me about a preferred walk on spot at Mississippi State.
"Coach Knox wants me and my parents to come up there later on an unofficial visit, so they can talk to us about everything."
