From thirty plus offers, offensive guard Cyrus Hobbi from Scottsdale (Ariz.) Saguaro narrowed his list to five, taking official visits to Arizona State, Nebraska, Oregon State, UCLA and USC.
From there he narrowed to ASU, USC and UCLA and at a press conference at Saguaro High School, the 6-3 285 pounder picked USC.
Hobbi talks about his decision, “I kept switching my mind and just picked this week, everybody probably expected me to pick ASU because of all of my teammates there but I felt like I wanted a change and when I went on my official visit to USC I was blown away.”
"I just called the coaches just before I got here (to the press conference) and they couldn't be happier. They were ecstatic. Any other recruits out there, come to USC and win some championships," he says.
Hobbi was not worried about the sanctions currently in place at USC. He says, "I can't go to a bowl game my first year but that is about it. I will just have a few less games to potentially play in. I couldn't be happier with my decision and can't wait to get out there. I am very excited to be a Trojan."
Scout’s evaluation: A four-star guard that performed very well at the Under Armour All-America Game. Is very well coached and plays with great technique. Plays with a wide base and gets off the ball well. Uses his hands well and is very strong. Is a finisher. Equally adept in the run and pass game. Plays RT in HS but at 6-3, will probably move inside and play guard or center at the next level. – Jason Jewell SW Analyst
