Recruiting: Roberson was a Texas Tech commitment for a short period of time, but in the end, it came down to Florida and Auburn. The Tigers have been high on his list for some time because they offered him as a corner early on.
The first thing I notice when I see Roberson is his confidence level. He always thinks he can play with the best, he always thinks he can make the plays that cant be made by anyone else, and he always has confidence no matter who he is lined up against.
Roberson wants to play cornerback on the next level and he may get a shot to do that at Auburn. He has nice length that can help him in press coverage, but he needs to work on his hips, his footwork, and his ability to turn and run with the quicker receivers. If Auburn allows him to play close to the ball and use his size and aggressive mentality to his advantage against wide receiver.
Overall, I like him a little more as a safety. He really closes on the ball well, he has very good range in the secondary, and he fills alleys nicely when playing off the ball. He will be an extra man who can make solo tackles in run support and he will make some big hits when guys go across the middle as well. The bottom line is, he plays better when moving forward than he does when asked to go backwards. He is just much more natural closing on the ball.
He has a lot of natural tools how good he is in the SEC will be determined by how much he picks up from the Auburn coaches. If he goes in there eager to learn and just works on the fundamentals, then he could be a very good defensive back for the Tigers.
