"Coach [Kyle] Hockman called me down to his office today and he told me that South Carolina had called and offered me," said Darius English. "I have not talked to the South Carolina coaches yet, but I was kind of expecting this offer. I have been talking to them a lot and they have been showing a lot of interest, so I thought this would happen."
Not too long ago, Marcquis Roberts and Rory Anderson committed to South Carolina and they have been English's teammates the last couple of years at McEachern. He would not mind playing with them again on the next level.
"South Carolina has really been on top from the beginning for me. Now they have offered me, two of my old teammates will be there, and I really like their program, so they are definitely number one."
English has not been to Columbia yet, but he plans to later this spring. Auburn, Georgia Tech, and Oklahoma State are other schools showing interest in him.
He finished the 2010 season with 73 tackles, 17 sacks, and 12 tackles for loss.
At the Simmons Showcase this past Sunday, he measured in at 6-feet 6-inches tall bare-footed and weighed 203 pounds. His best time in the 40 yard dash was 4.72 and he had a vertical of 37.5 inches.
