University of Michigan-Al Glick Fieldhouse (Ann Arbor, MI)
Kickers, punters, and long snappers from the Midwest traveled to the University of Michigan's indoor football facility last weekend for Kornblue Kicking's Ann Arbor Fab 50 Camp.
Kicker Ross Martin (Walsh Jesuit HS, OH – 2012) further solidified his #1 spot in the 2012 Fab 50 rankings. He won the camp's FG competition by nailing his first 8 attempts, including a 55 yarder off the ground. His only misses were from 60 yards out.
Kicker Dylan Mulder (Saline HS, MI – 2012) showed the longest kickoff distances, sending three 68 yards in an indoor setting. In the younger group, kicker Alex Kenrick (Salem HS, MI - 2014) opened some eyes with a 50 yard FG in competition. Other notable performers were long snappers Jack Ziltz (Marian Catholic HS, IL - 2012), Matt Guthrie (Okemos, MI – 2012), and Tyler Pinkowski (Southgate Anderson HS, MI – 2013), kicker Connor Shennan (Canton HS, MI – 2013), punter Derek Schulz (Walled Lake Central, MI – 2011), and combo kicker/punter Andrew Haldeman (Wayland Union HS, MI – 2011).
Participants received instruction from Kornblue Kicking owner Brandon Kornblue and his staff of current and former NFL and Division 1 athletes. Staff included FIU kicker Jack Griffin, who recently hit the game-winning FG with no time left in the Little Caesar's Bowl, FIU punter Josh Brisk, ex-UM long snapper Jeremy Miller, ex-NFL kicker Ali Haji-Sheikh, and others.
The next Ann Arbor event is scheduled for April 17, 2011 and the national combine event, the Spring 2011 Kicking Challenge, will be held May 1 in Miami, FL. For more info, visit www.KornblueKicking.com or contact Brandon Kornblue at (561)702-0203.
