Texas QB gets Elite 11 invite
Stephenville (TX) quarterback Connor Washington is quickly establishing himself as one of the top 2012 quarterbacks in the lone star state. The 6-foot-2, 205-pound gunslinger was recently invited to the Elite 11 Quarterback Competition and spoke with Scout.com about what it means to him and how he plans to prepare for it. "I just found out that I got invited to the Elite 11 regional quarterback competition in Fort Worth. I'm really excited," said Washington. The Stephenville three-star quarterback believes that being able to participate in the April 9 competition will go a long ways in helping him prepare for playing at the next level. "It's a really awesome opportunity. I've seen players that have gone there and they all usually turn out to be really good college quarterbacks. It will be a great experience to play with the best quarterbacks in the nation." Washington is being recruited by major programs such as Texas A&M, Oklahoma, LSU, Texas Tech, Houston, Notre Dame and Alabama. He attended junior days at Texas A&M and Houston and plans to go to another later on this month. "I'm going to Texas Tech's junior day later on this month. I went to their game this past fall against Texas and I had a great time. My sister went to school there and I like how they pass the ball a lot. Their fans are also real crazy too." Washington has been practicing on his throws every afternoon and plans to keep preparing himself for the Elite 11. "I've been throwing the ball everyday in the afternoon after school. I've been focusing on my accuracy and maintaining my quick release and trying to improve it." Stick with Scout.com for more on Washington and his recruitment.
