Here are some news and notes from Tuesday February 15.
Alabama offered one of Florida's top juniors in Ricardo Louis. He still hasn't reached double-digit offers, but do not let that fool you. He will be a top 10 prospect in the Sunshine State and he is leaning towards staying home. He said via text on Tuesday, "Miami is my top school right now."
Greensboro (NC) Western Guilford offensive lineman Clayton Stadnik picked up a new offer and it came from Wake Forest. He now has three offers – the other two are from East Carolina and Virginia Tech. He will likely play center on the next level.
Clayton's brother Brock Stadnik is one of the top overall offensive linemen in the South in 2012 and he added an offer from Tennessee. Stadnik is a 6-foot-5, 280 pound tackle that now has over 10 scholarship offers. The twin brothers plan to attend the same school.
Auburn offers James Deloach out of Millen (GA) Jenkins County on Tuesday. It is offer six for the 6-foot-2, 259 pound defensive lineman and he and his teammate Jonathan Taylor are looking to sign with the same school in February 2012. Taylor has over 10 offers right now and Auburn had offered him back in 2011.
Texas does not step outside of their home state to offer kids this early too often, but Mack Brown offered five-star offensive tackle John Theus out of Florida on Tuesday. Texas has a connection there though – Stacy Searels is the new offensive line coach at Texas and he came from Georgia. The Dawgs signed John's older brother Nathan Theus in the 2011 class and they Searels had been recruiting John for two years already. Theus said, "I feel very honored to get offered by Texas. Not many kids get offered by them that live outside of the state, so it means a lot. I am going to take a good look at them."
Miami (FL) Columbus defensive back Deon Bush added an offer from the Tennessee Volunteers on Tuesday. It is offer 16 for Bush who only had four entering last week.
The top 2012 corner in Georgia Geno Smith picked up an offer from USC and the offer from the Trojans is his 21st. Auburn offered him first and they have been high on his list for some time, but he is giving everyone a strong look.
Maryville, Tn. quarterback Patton Robinette picked up his first offer on Tuesday and it came from Arkansas State. He is a quarterback with good size, arm strength, mobility, and intelligence to keep an eye on. Arkansas, Clemson, Duke, Penn State, and Vanderbilt are a few of the other schools showing interest early on.
Florida is the latest school to offer running back T.J. Yeldon out of Daphne, Ala. He will be a top 10 prospect in Alabama and he likes Alabama, Auburn, Florida, and Florida State at this time. All four have offered him.
Dallas (GA) Allatoona running back Miles Jones will be attending the Junior Day at Wake Forest on Saturday. He claims an offer from Kentucky at this time.
Virginia likes to recruit the South and they offered defensive lineman Jordan Watkins on Tuesday. Watkins now holds over 20 offers and the 6-foot-5, 260 pound junior out of College Park (GA) Woodward Academy is wide open.
LSU commitment Ronnie Feist told me that he is 100 percent committed to the Tigers on Tuesday. The 6-foot-1, 210 pound linebacker said, "I will enjoy representing my state at LSU. I really like the coaching staff there, I have friends there, and it's the school I plan to sign with. The only way I go another direction is if God sends me that way."
Michigan offered running back Keith Marshall and they are the 21st school to do so. Nothing more to report here – he is still a five-star back and he is still open.
T.L. Hanna (SC) tight end Justin Meredith is closing in on double digits now when talking scholarship offers. Tennessee entered the race officially on Tuesday with an offer and he is excited about it. "I talked to their tight ends coach Tuesday morning and he offered me. I will now highly consider the Vols."
Reserve (LA) East Saint John defensive tackle Gerron Borne received an offer from Memphis on Tuesday. It is offer number two for the 6-foot-2, 270 pound junior. Tennessee is his other offer.
Louisville is the latest school to offer running back Mike Davis out of Stone Mountain (GA) Stephenson.
Quayvon Hicks added an offer from Illinois and he is inching closer to 10 scholarship offers. He was offered to play on the defensive line by the Fightin Illini.
Jontavious Carter is a wide receiver to keep an eye on this spring because he could emerge as one of the best in Georgia. He played football for the first time on the high school level last fall and he is starting to draw a lot of attention. Mississippi State is one school recruiting him and he is getting a good vibe from, "They invited me to their Junior Day and I think they want me bad."
