Conard Hopes to Stay at Corner
Chris Conard profile "I am hearing from Mississippi State, Ole Miss, Tennessee, UCLA and Stanford," said Chris. "I am going to Mississippi State's junior day on March 5th. That will be my first one." Conard has proven to be a force in the defensive secondary on the high school level. He made the move early in his high school career and has never looked back. "I am pretty good at playing corner," said Chris. "I have been playing it since my 9th grade year when Coach Russo got here. "I like being out there and it's an easy position to me. You just stay with your man and then come up and make tackles. It's fun." When Conard makes the move to the college level, he hopes to be part of a program that routinely sends players to the NFL. "I want to go to a good program where you know pro scouts are going to be looking at you," said Chris. "I want to be on a good campus with good facilities and all of that, but the main thing is to be in a good program." Summer camps look to be part of Conard's vacation plans. The off season will provide Chris the chance to prove his worth to college coaches and ready himself for the leadership role at Water Valley. "We are going to be a young team this year," said Conard. "We will have a lot of sophomores playing this season. They are going to have to step up and get ready to play. "I know, being a senior, I am going to have to show them the way and be more of a leader this year."
