NUC Houston: Top 2012 Preview
In the preliminary listings, there seems to be quite a few players who are slated to attend the National Underclassmen Combine. The Saturday/Sunday event will take place at Fort Bend Baptist, located in Sugar Land (TX). Here are a few players who have been stated to participate. From West Orange-Stark, athlete Justin Thomas will be on the field. The 5-foot-9, 160-pound athlete is slated to line up at the cornerback position on the next level and has early verbal offers from Texas Tech and Houston, with a host of other top Big 12 programs in the hunt as well. His teammate DeCarlos Renfro is on the roster as well. Staying in the talented Golden Triangle area, Beaumont Kelly wide receiver Nicholas Schrapps is set to attend as well. The big-bodied (6-3, 205) Schrapps was the primary target for the Kelly team, but has yet to pull in offer No. 1, but is getting several looks from Division I squads. For the guys in the trenches, Montgomery offensive lineman Braden Meador will compete. The 6-foot-5, 275-pounder is looking for his recruitment to take off this off-season. He recently got his first offer in from Houston. It should be interesting seeing the defensive skilled guys with Pearland Dawson's Jarell Crenshaw, Missouri City Hightower's Jordan Bell and Alief Hastings' James Arnett doing their thing in 1-on-1 competitions. There should be a good battle going especially when Manvel's Ashton Bennett, who had a stellar performance at last year's NUC Combine, steps up.
