Analysis: Alex has added some arm strength over his sophomore season and he has really begun to mature physically.
He is not shy about keeping on the zone read and making plays with his feet. Nicholson is also pretty crafty with his play fakes when working off play action.
Alex looks very comfortable in a spread system and has the arm strength to make the necessary throws. He does a good job getting the ball out in rhythm on most of his attempts.
Verdict: Alex has a real blue collar appeal to him that makes him easy to root for. He does just about everything well. While he may not wow you with arm strength, he has adequate velocity and nice touch on the deep ball.
Ball placement is hit or miss especially on the deeper routes outside the numbers, but that can easily be corrected with the proper mechanics and repetitions.
Nicholson will benefit from some strong showings on the summer camp circuit where he can work out in person for college coaches.
