The Avon offensive line had a good month of February, as guard Josh Smith
and tackle DeAndre Herron
both picked up their first offers.
The 6-3, 260-lb Smith may move to center in the fall, but either way, schools have liked what they have seen on tape, as he now has offers from Illinois and Ball State.
"I'm great," he said. "Recruiting is finally starting to pick up."
The Cardinals were the last to offer, and he says the proximity to home was one of their pitches to him.
"I got an email from Coach Dixon saying we would like to offer you to come to Ball State. He asked me to give him a call, so I did, then he talked about the education and location of Ball State, and was really wanting me to go there."
When asked if anyone else seemed close to offering, Smith said, "Yeah, I feel Indiana and Northern Illinois. I'm going to Minnesota, Northern Illinois and Illinois on the 31st, 1st and 2nd."
No matter what happens, and even though he hopes more offers will come, Smith is happy with what he already has.
"This is a real good experience and I'm so thankful for what God has blessed me with."
Avon (Ind.) offensive lineman Josh Smith recently landed his second scholarship offer. He believes more may be on their way, as he is ready to head to some spring practices.
