Rockdale (TX) High's 4-star LB Derek David is softly committed to Texas Tech, but told Scout.com…
4-star LB Decommits from Tech
Derek David, a 6-4, 228-pound junior linebacker out of Rockdale, Texas, had committed to Texas Tech last June. When Scout.com caught up with David last month, he said he was still solid on the Red Raiders, but was visiting other schools. He simply wanted to keep his options open. "I like Oklahoma, Texas A&M, and Alabama," David said in February's interview. "Those would be my top three behind Texas Tech." When asked this weekend if he was planning on visiting Lubbock this spring, the linebacker replied, "No, I'm not going there anymore." He said he decommitted from Texas Tech two weeks prior. When asked why he decommitted, David said, "I just don't see myself going there anymore." To rumors that Tech pulled his offer, David says, "I don't know if they did or not. I just don't like them anymore." So who's the 4-star liking now? "It doesn't matter. I'm open to any school. I'm kind of liking OU." David certainly has a nice list of major schools to select from, holding offers from Alabama, Ohio State, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Texas A&M, and Baylor. At this moment, he does not have any visits planned. He says he hopes to find time to hit up his Top Three (Oklahoma, Alabama, and Texas A&M) this spring or summer. In the meantime, the Rockdale, TX star says he will spend his spring in the weightroom, while also prepping for his ACT April 9.
