He gets off of the line quickly and has nice size. He can play inside and he can play outside. He can make things happen on the underneath plays with his legs. He also has some versatility on the 85 because he could honestly figure in to the defensive back mix, but is likely a receiver all of the way. It would be nice to see him be a little bit more competitive on balls that will not be caught to make sure that the DBs do not make a play.
RB Dennis Smith -
He is a slashing type of runner, who can cut in to the hole really hard and break to daylight. He runs a lot out of the 'pistol' set in high school, so it will be interesting to see how his running style will translate once he gets things going more downhill in college. I think his game will translate well. He does not have elite top end speed, but he s not getting chased down from behind by the players on film. Physical specimen.
DE Tyrone Taylor -
An explosive defensive end who really gets a lot of pressure in the offensive backfield. He has the speed to slip by offensive linemen, but is also excellent getting off of blocks to make plays. He pursues well and will track down ball carriers that try to get to the outside and shows a knack for staying home on the read plays.
DE Hassan Ridgeway -
Not the most explosive defensive end in the state, but spends a lot of time on the field, once he gets to stay on one side of the ball in college he should develop nicely. He is strong at the point of attack and has good hips to get around blockers.
WR Sterling Shepard -
One of the more exciting players you will find. He excels on both sides of the ball and put up some gaudy stats in 2010 while leading his team to a state title. He accelerates on a dime and is able to get in and out of a cut as quickly as anyone you will find. He is a home-run hitter on offense and makes things happen on defense. A true athlete who could play either side in college.
DE Devonte Fields -
Fields seemed to get better game by game as a junior. He is a versatile end who could probably put his hand on the ground or possibly even stand up as an edge rusher in college. He can really get after the quarterback and he also has the ability to get out and cover the flats. The size/speed combo is impressive.
