Brown Hearing from Five

Jim Hill wideout Fred Brown was in many ways a one man wrecking crew. Despite the lack of some offensive compliments, Fred was able to make plays time and time again. Even in double coverage, Brown was able to gain separation and move the ball up the field. College coaches have been in touch with the talented wideout and a college offer or two may soon be on the way.

Frederick Brown profile

"I am getting interest from Mississippi State, Ole Miss, Nebraska, Arkansas and Tennessee," said Brown. "I think Mississippi State is about to offer me."

Some recent conversations have Fred feeling good about his prospect in Starkville.

"They invited me to come up there two weeks from now and visit with them again," said Brown. "I went up there for their junior day and I really liked it."

The Jackson, Mississippi product learned more about the Bulldogs' plans for his position this year.

"Coach Knox said they were looking for some speed at the receiver position and he said they need some tall guys in their rotation," said Brown. "Coach Knox said they were looking for a receiver like me."

Fred returned home to the capital city with a strong feeling about the Bulldogs.

"I like how they play and how they use their receivers," said Brown. "I liked my visit up there and I like the coaches."

Ole Miss will get the chance to host Fred next month when he visits Oxford. The personable wide receiver will look to see if the Rebels have what he is looking for in a college program.

"I want to play football," said Brown. "I wouldn't mind staying close to home, but I just want to find the best place for me to play."
