Richard Johnson Ready For Offseason
Richard Johnson has all the physical tools to be successful on the next level. He stands 6'1" and weighs 220 pounds. He runs the forty in 4.65 seconds. He benches over 300 pounds and can jump 34 inches. On top of his athletic skills, he also excels in the classroom. Coaches have taken notice of the linebacker and he is hoping to receive his first offer soon. "I have been receiving interest from several schools," said Johnson. "I hear from Wake Forest and UCLA the most. I also hear from Maryland, Tennessee, Oregon, Nebraska and Missouri. I am just waiting for that first offer." This is a big offseason in Johnson's recruiting process and he has been able to see a few schools already. "I have been to a few campuses already but I want to get to more this summer. I have been to Wake Forest, Maryland and Virginia. I will be going to Wake Forest for their spring game as well." Johnson talks about the three schools he has seen already. "Wake Forest has a great atmosphere and I liked the facilities. Maryland is close to home and I like the campus and the area it's in. Virginia has nice facilities too. I like the coaches and the campus there." Johnson will also be attending several camps and taking other visits to schools this summer. "I plan on going to Oregon, Boston College, Wake Forest, Maryland, Tennessee, Nebraska and Virginia." And what Will Johnson be looking for at those schools? "The academics are a top priority for me. How I see myself fitting in with the campus will be important to me. The athletics and football program are important as well." Last season, Johnson had 30 solo tackles, 18 tackles for loss, 6 Sacks, a Forced Fumble and one blocked punt. He received All-Area, All-Conference and All-Met honors. Johnson reports a 3.35 GPA.
