It isn't even May yet and by all accounts this could be a record setting year in Pennsylvania when it comes to D-I football signees. Scout.com has learned that close to 50 players claim D-I scholarship offers already. The bulk of the combines and college camps have not even begun.
Palmyra (Pa.) middle linebacker Jon Hicks picked up his first offer over the weekend when Temple pulled the trigger.
"Just letting you know that Temple offered me this weekend," Hicks said. "Coach (Steve) Addazio called me into his office and got straight to the point and he told me he wants a big, thumping middle linebacker and that I fit that description."
Hicks was obviously excited to learn about his first verbal offer.
"It made me realize that my hard work is starting to pay off," stated Hicks. "Now, I need to continue working even harder."
Hicks has told us in the past that he would like to stay in-state and his future plans include trips to the two in-state FBS programs.
"I'll be attending spring practice at Pittsburgh on April 7th," Hicks explained. "I'm going to Penn State on April 9th for their scholarship prospect day."
