McKelvin Hoping For Big Offseason
Duane McKelvin is starting to get his name out there with college coaches because of his hard work and determination this offseason. He has been working out and playing in 7 v 7 tournaments. He also plans to take a few visits this spring. Then he will hit the summer camp trail and really get in front of coaches to see where he stands. "Since the season ended I have been working out really hard," said McKelvin. "I play on a really good 7 v 7 team and we are playing around at different schools. I am just working on getting better in the classroom and on the field." McKelvin, who stands 5'11/170 with 4.49 forty speed, has started to hear from a few schools and wants to build on that sooner rather than later. "I have been hearing from Pittsburgh, Maryland and Richmond. Other schools I like are Clemson, Florida, Virginia, Penn State and Virginia Tech. I have seen Pitt and I really like their facilities. I like the nutrition and conditioning programs. I think I would fit in very well there." Before the summer hits, McKelvin plans on visiting a few campuses this spring. "I will be going to Virginia Tech and Maryland for their spring games. I want to go to Penn State this spring as well. After that I will just have to make my schedule for the camps at the different schools this summer." McKelvin has his focus on a few things when he is on campus. "I just want to get a feel for the environment. That is most important. The type of program and defensive system is important as well."
