Two of the best in Ohio are teammates and they will be playing one more year in high school together before joining each other in Orlando to play in this prestigious All-American game.
Adolphus Washington is a 6-foot-6, 240 pound defensive end and Dwayne Stanford is a 6-foot-4, 200 pound wide receiver and they play for Taft High School in Cincinnati, Ohio. Stanford is excited about the opportunity to play in this game.
“It feels great to be invited to play in this game,” said Stanford. “I embrace the chance to get to play against the best defensive backs in the country and it is a real honor to be considered as an All-American. Being an All-American was one of my goals since my freshman year and I excited about this chance. It makes me just want to get better and work harder to show that I belong in this type of game.”
Stanford is a long wide receiver who really knows how to go up and get the football. Washington is the top prospect in Ohio and five-star on Scout because of his size, athleticism, and ability to rush the passer.
Four out of the state of Texas are joining that pair out of Ohio. That quartet is running back Jonathan Gray, linebacker Dalton Santos (committed to Oklahoma State), Malcolm Brown (committed to Texas), and offensive tackle Kennedy Estelle.
Gray leads the way with this group and he is currently rated as a five-star on Scout. He has great acceleration and the ability to take it the distance from anywhere on the field at any time.
Santos, Brown, and Estelle are all three four-stars and members of the initial Scout300.
Landon Collins and Jordan Simmons will be in Orlando in January as well.
Collins is the top prospect in the state of Louisiana and he is a safety with great instincts. He stays in the action whether it be against the run inside the box or in the secondary against the pass. He has great size, he plays with good speed, and he will be strongly considered for a five-star as we progress through the 2011 season.
He is looking forward to playing in Orlando.
“I have heard it is so much fun down there at the Under Armour game and I excited to be in it,” Collins said. “I love Florida, so I like where the game is, and I love the uniforms too. I am excited about it all. I am honored to be an All-American and I am happy to be recognized after all the hard work I have put in.”
Simmons is a big offensive lineman that can really excel on the inside on the next level. He has an NFL like frame, he has shown he can get to the second level, and he knows how to finish his blocks. He is currently the number two guard on Scout and he plays at Crespi Carmlite High School in Encino, Calif.
