After a full day of working out from 10:00 AM to 1:30, including a grueling
lineman challenge, it was time to get to the one on ones. Saving the best for
last, the initial lineup looked like it was going to be a mismatch with a
talented group of defensive end types pass rushing against a horde of interior
offensive linemen.
One on one passing drills are heavily favored towards the defensive side of the
ball as it compares to actual play on the field considering there's no threat of
a run play, double team, help from a tight end or running back, and a stationary
target at quarterback. Despite the disadvantages, the offensive linemen held the
score to a respectable 40 to 24 in 64 total reps.
There isn't always a clear winner and loser in each rep and sometimes it's a
judgment call. In this case, I was the judge charting the wins and losses for
each rep. The action starts on the first movement of the offensive linemen who
is given a snap count. Offensive linemen have the option of lining up at guard
or tackle.
Here is a look at how each of the players performed that took at least two reps
during the one on one pass rush/protection drill at the Nike Training Football
Camp held at TCU on Sunday April 10th, 2011.
