UAB has offered Clay Machen and Georgia Tech, Houston, and Southern Miss have called Auburn head coach Tim Carter about him recently.
Machen is a versatile lineman that has played all over the line at Auburn. He stands at 6-feet 4-inches tall and he is now weighing around 280 pounds.
He has visited a couple of schools and one stood out a lot.
"I have taken trips to Georgia Tech and Southern Miss and I really liked Georgia Tech," Machen said. "I feel like they may be close to offering me. I really liked their facilities, the coaches were great, and I had a good time visiting them. I am going back to their spring game."
His interest in the Yellow Jackets is high, but he said he will analyze any offer that he gets.
Machen could be a sleeper in the state of Alabama and Coach Carter thinks he has a lot of upside.
"I think Clay is a player with a lot of potential," said Coach Carter. "He has been a football/basketball player here for us at Auburn and he has really good feet. A lot of coaches like the way he moves his feet so well and he has also had a nice growth spurt recently. He played at around 260 pounds as a junior and he is now weighing between 280-285 pounds. He is also a very intelligent player that plays multiple positions. He can handle the work load and he can play right tackle, left tackle, either guard spot, or center for us. I really think his position in college will be as a center. He recognizes defenses so well."
