Rubio Long Snapping and Chris Sailer Kicking continued their Nike Spring camps in TX on Sunday, April 17, 2011. Long Snappers representing TX, LA and OK came to learn from the best and get the most exposure out there for Long Snappers in the country. Rubio Long Snapping is continuing to dominate the Long Snapping world with over 60 Long Snappers sent to college in 2010 with 2011 is on path to beat that number. Rubio Long Snapping even has a 2012 Long Snapper that has been offered two full scholarships and committed!
Long snapping instructor Chris Rubio of Rubio Long Snapping / Chris Sailer Kicking was on hand to guide the snappers through the various sections of the camp. The camp’s many facets were on-field instruction, film/classroom review, recruiting seminar led by the NCSA along with Rubio and Chris Sailer, and wrapped up with a competition. The winner of the competition earned a FREE admission to the 9th Annual Snapping Spring Event sponsored by Nike in Las Vegas on May 14-15, 2011.
The winner of the Nike Spring Camp in TX was Matt Ackley (TX). Matt is a junior and was at his first Rubio Long Snapping camp. Showed great poise and handled the pressure of the camp very well. Accuracy and form are solid.
Here are some of the Long Snappers that stood out:
Nolan Frese (TX) was purely dominant in TX. I have seen Nolan countless times before and even have him ranked as a five star, but this time was different. He snapped with an enormous amount of confidence and was outstanding. Ball is extremely accurate, fast and smooth. He is going to do very well at the next level.
Kyle Ashby (TX) proved why he is a TOP 12 member with smooth and consistent snaps that have definitely picked up speed since January. Form is impeccable and he is looking very solid.
Brent Nicholson (TX has really been working and it shows. Looked very strong and is definitely headed towards becoming one of the top snappers in his class. Excellent frame and attitude. Solid.
Bobby Geibler (TX) is a very strong long snapper with exceptional form. Ball flies back to the punter. Accuracy is solid. Moving in the right direction.
Jake Compton (TX) did very well after some time off. Body is built well and he snaps hard. Solid athlete as well as Long Snapper.
Michael McGarry (TX) showed great improvement since the last time I saw him (Nike Spring Camp in CA). Form is becoming solid and his frame is solid.
Matt Boggs (LA) is coming along very nicely with great form and a very long frame.
Chris Burger (TX) caught my eye right off the bat with his fantastic frame and large body. Listened very well and improved quickly throughout the day. This one could be extremely special if he keeps working. Very strong and raw snapper.
