Garmon ready for Vacation
Erie (Pa.) McDowell four-star running back Greg Garmon may not end up at a MAC school, but that didn't stop him from taking a few unofficial visits with some friends and earning a few offers along the way. The trip finished up with a stop at Pittsburgh of the Big East. "We went to Eastern Michigan, Toledo, Akron and then to Pittsburgh," Garmon said. "I went with a bunch of guys from our 7v7 team. I love being around those Pittsburgh kids man, they are hilarious." Although it may not be a likely destination for Garmon, he was impressed by the new direction at Eastern Michigan. "Eastern Michigan offered me when I was there," stated Garmon. "I spoke with Head Coach (Ron) English a lot. We went to his office and had a good conversation. It's a smaller school, but they are trying to upgrade and modernize everything up there." Garmon like most who see Akron for the first time was surprised by the Zips facilities. "Akron is one of the nicest schools I have seen," Garmon said. "I liked the trip there. I spoke with Head Coach Rob Ianello a lot and a few other coaches. They took us on a tour of all the facilities. They offered me a while ago." The McDowell standout finished up his trip at Heinz Field for the Pitt spring game. "It was a good trip, we went up and sat under the roof, because of the weather by the club seats," he said. "I got to meet some of the coaches that I didn't get to meet before like Defensive Coordinator (Keith Patterson), Running Backs Coach (Calvin Magee) and Wide Receivers Coach (Mike Norvell). I got the chance to talk with a few of the players like Cam Saddler and Brandon Ifill. They like me as a No. 3 guy they told me. Like a running back/wide receiver type." Garmon is excited to be taking a vacation this week to Florida. He is planning on visiting Florida and Florida State, but no dates are set. "All that I know is we are leaving Wednesday for a vacation that we had scheduled for Florida," Garmon said. "I'm just going to call Florida and Florida State while I am there and tell them I want to come visit. "Florida said they would offer me when I come down to visit," Garmon continued. "Florida State offered me a little while ago." Garmon wants to narrow down his choices, but he says it is becoming harder by the day. "I'd love to narrow it down, but every time I get close, someone else comes along," laughed Garmon. "North Carolina, Michigan and Penn State are still the leaders."
