"I have been there for some spring practices, their spring game, and I have been around there a lot, so I knew Vanderbilt liked me. It is my first offer and it feels good to have it."
With the offer put out to Batey, he will definitely look at the Commodores a little harder.
"It is my first offer and it means a lot to me, so yeah, I am going to think about them more, look at them differently, and pay them more attention. I mean, I already liked them, but this changes things."
The 5-foot-11, 186 pound athlete out of Nashville (TN) Ensworth has now places Vanderbilt on top of his list.
"They were first to offer me, they are the only school to offer me, and I would have to say they are my leader now," he said. "I would put Tennessee, Kentucky, Cincinnati, and then South Carolina behind them."
Now Batey will wait to see who is next. The interest is picking up in this Tennessee athlete and he is nowhere close to making a decision.
"I know some schools will be out at spring practice, I have been getting a lot of letters, and I just want to wait and see what happens."
Batey has great speed and athleticism. He is primarily being recruited to play wide receiver, but he could play cornerback as well. He finished 2010 with 50 receptions, 700 yards, and three touchdowns.
