One more from the SEC

Colleges are currently scouting the country looking for their next star. One of the more sought after running backs in a deep pool of talent in the Volunteer state, I'tavius Mathers, picked up another SEC offer this past week while being watched from Ole Miss running back coach Derrick Nix.

"I spoke to Ole Miss a couple weeks back, and then they sent their running back coach here last Wednesday to see me scrimmage," Mathers said when asked about his newest offer. "Coach (Derrick) Nix offered me the next day. They had kind of given me a verbal offer a while back earlier in the spring but they solidified it. I guess you could say."

What does he know about the Rebels?

"I know Dexter McCluster had a lot of success there, and they have an offensive coordinator that came from the Dolphins. He coached Felix Jones, Darren McFadden, Ricky Williams, Ronnie Brown, Peyton Hillis, just a lot of great running backs. Coach Nutt has a reputation of sending his running backs to the league, and it looks like he has another one going there next year in Brandon Bolden. There is just a window open for me up there with Brandon leaving if I wanted to go there."

Other colleges have also been by to scout the talented 6' 0", 185-pound back.

"(Mississippi) State, Ole Miss, Kentucky, Arkansas, and Alabama have also been by."

He went over what he knew about each school.

"I really do not know a whole lot about MSU, to be honest. I like how Alabama shares reps with Ingram and Richardson and both of them are successful. I do not know too much about Arkansas and Kentucky has great fan support. Their coaches are really nice too."

Mathers got a chance to visit a few of the colleges who have offered him this spring.

"I went to Vandy's Jr Day at the end of February and Tennessee's spring practice. I also went to the Alabama and Kentucky spring games."

Did any one college give him that homey feeling?

"Not really. I am still wide open."

Two factors will stand out about the rest when it does come decision time?

"I am just looking at my education and playing time mainly. That's about it. I will play out my senior season and then really focus on my recruitment. Right now I am just enjoying myself and getting ready for my senior season."
