Baylor Bears nab a commitment from the 6-foot-2, 215-pound linebacker of Allen (TX) High, Thaddeus…
Second on its Way for LaGrone?
"I talked to my high school coaches. They told me some are going to offer me this week or next," reported LaGrone. Those "some" are Iowa, Iowa State, Kansas, Michigan State, and Arkansas State. Both Iowa programs have dropped by Allen High this spring, and liked what they saw in person. "I talked to Iowa. They know I'm from there, so they'll most likely offer." LaGrone says he talks often with Kansas Coach David Beaty and Michigan State Coach Terrence Samuel. Both coaches have hinted that they're on the brink of offering. And while the defensive standout says he really likes the Spartans, he says his No. 1 is still Baylor. Will another offer on the table change this? LaGrone says we'll see. As he waits to see which program jumps next, he admits he'll be keeping his fingers crossed that a select few join the game. "I'd really like to get offers from Missouri, Texas A&M, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, or TCU." He explains, "I really like A&M and OU, but heard they're pretty full on everyone they're taking… Mizzou is still interested and I think they might offer." "TCU, they're only taking two deep safeties. They've already taken one. My coach said if they take a strong safety or linebacker type, it'll probably be me." In addition to these programs, LaGrone says four others have recently started showing interest: Oregon, Stanford, Virginia, and Pittsburgh." The linebacker is looking forward to coaches watching him in action this spring and summer. He says, "Schools seem to like me in person." (Easy to believe when LaGrone's put on 20 pounds since last season, growing from 6-foot-2, 170 pounds to 6-2, 190.) He plans on attending as many camps as he can. Penciled in so far are those of TCU, Oregon, and Iowa. --Josh Harvey contributed to this report.--
