Several of the West’s best will be in Palo Alto this weekend for the annual
Stanford Nike Football Training Camp.
Scout.com will be on hand to check out the top prospects from Arizona,
California, Colorado, Hawaii, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, Oregon, Utah and
Washington.
Here is a look at some of the players to watch on Sunday.
QUARTERBACKS
The quarterbacks got their first shot to shine on Friday at the Elite 11
Regional Camp, and a handful of them will be back for the NFTC on Sunday,
including a trio of Scout 300 members: Danville (Calif.) San Ramon Valley's Zach Kline, Concord (Calif.) De La Salle's Bart Houston and Eagle (Idaho) passer
Tanner Mangum.

In addition to the Scout 300 passers, there are a number of guys knocking on the
door of the list, namely Rocklin (Calif.) Whitney's Jake Rodrigues, Fresno
(Calif.) Central's Mike Baker, Ventura (Calif.) St. Bonaventure's Marc Evans and
Bakersfield (Calif.) Ridgeview's Tyler Ferguson as well as Temecula (Calif.)
Chaparral's Matt Morin, who was the MVP of the Los Angeles NFTC.
Other guys that have been flying under the radar this spring but are gearing up
include Pittsburg (Calif.) Malik Watson, Arcadia (Calif.) passer Myles Carr,
Granite Bay (Calif.) quarterback Brendan Keeney, Canyon Country (Calif.)
Canyon's Jonathan Jerozal, Los Alamitos (Calif.) Dylan Lagarde, Corona (Calif.)
Roosevelt's Aaron Crone, Hilmar (Calif.) Andrew Olson and Danville (Calif.)
Monte Vista's Jeff Lockie.
There will be a number of 2013 prospects to keep an eye, including potentially
the top underclass quarterback in the region, Sammamish (Wash.) Skyline's Max Browne. He'll be joined by Fresno (Calif.;) Central's Khari McGee, Los
Angeles (Calif.) Salesian's Jihad Vercher and Oakland (Calif.) Bishop O'Dowd's
Dominic Miroglio.
RUNNING BACKS
It's not a great year for running backs in the West but there will be a couple
of running backs to watch on Sunday.The most notable is South Gate (Calif.)
South East's Robert Lewis, a commit to SMU, who's getting a number of offers
from Pac-12 programs.
Fontana (Calif.) Summit's Jamaal Williams got his first two offers last week,
from San Diego State and Boise State and he'll be in attendance.
Other's to watch include Ventura (Calif.) St. Bonaventure's Shaun Wick,
Stevenson Ranch (Calif.) West Ranch's Jeffrey Coprich and 2013 prospect Anterio Bateman from Gardena (Calif.) Serra.
RECEIVERS/TIGHT ENDS
A good deal of Scout 300 prospects will be there at the receiver and tight
end position, with Los Angeles (Calif.) Venice's Gabriel Marks (the 2010 WR MVP
at the Los Angeles NFTC), Scottsdale (Ariz.) Chaparral's Davonte' Neal, Fresno
(Calif.) Washington Union's Deontay Greenberry and the West's top tight end in
Rocklin (Calif.) Whitney's Jalen Cope-Fitzpatrick.
But the stars aren't the only one who're looking to make a statement on
Sunday.
USC commit Jaydon Mickens from Los Angeles (Calif.) Dorsey, El Dorado Hills
(Calif.) Oak Ridge's Dylan Collie are Richmond (Calif.) Kennedy's Kenny Walker
some of the three-stars expected.
And sleepers like Bellflower (Calif.) St. John Bosco's Justin Johnson, Elk
Grove (Calif.) Cosumnes Oaks' Michael Thomas, Long Beach (Calif.) Cabrillo's
Laron Barnes and Fresno Central's Shakiem Barbel are some who'd like to catapult
their name into the mix.
After Cope-Fitzpatrick, other tight ends like Fresno (Calif.) Bullard's Ian Taubler, Ventura (Calif.) tight end Nick Rudolph and Mesa (Ariz.) Red Mountain's
Billy Freeman, will be in attendance.
OFFENSIVE LINE
It's an absolutely loaded class of offensive linemen in the region and
several of the West's top prospects will be at Stanford to solidify their
status.
The headliners include Scout Top 50 member Kyle Murphy from San Clemente
(Calif.) and other Scout 300 members like Encinitas (Calif.) La Costa Canyon's
Erik Magnuson, Las Vegas (Nev.) Desert Pines' Cedrick Poutasi, Corvallis (Ore.)
Isaac Seumalo and Richmond (Calif.) Salesian's Freddie Tagaloa.
There are also a number of three-star offensive linemen who will be in
attendance, including San Jose (Calif.) Independence's Fernando Villanueva,
Fresno (Calif.) Bullard's Stephon McCray, last year's Stanford NFTC OL MVP,
Atwater (Calif.) Buhach Colony's Matt Cochran, Kirkland (Wash.) Juanita's Nathan Dean, Fresno (Calif.) San Joaquin Memorial's David Keller and Ventura (Calif.)
St. Bonaventure's David Barajas.
Other sleepers to watch include Oceanside (Calif.) Eduardo Middleton, Antioch
(Calif.) Deer Valley's Siosifa Malolo, Los Angeles (Calif.) Dorsey's Justin
Johnson and Elk Grove (Calif.) Cosumnes Oaks's Danny Soltero.
One of the top underclass lineman prospects is Fresno (Calif.) Clovis West's
David Keller, who will be there.
